Hi Matt,
I am going to try this recipe for sure ! Would you have a recipe for dulce de leche ? I know the one you cook the condensed milk can on a pressure cooker, but it is pretty dangerous though… A friend of a neighbor of mine in Brazil used to make some and I know it took several hours, but it was so good that once in a while it would not hurt.
Or would you recommend any dulce de leche brand available in U.S. ?

Matt– I cannot tell you how happy I was to come across this recipe on your site, today!! My best friend’s mom, who’s Peruvian, used to make alfajores for us all the time– and they are totally my go-to comfort cookie when I need a little taste of home. Hi Matt,
I wanted to thank you… no no…. my family, friends & co-workers want to thank you for this recipe!
I saw you on the Martha Stewart show and decided I’d give this cookie a try (my first baking experience). WELL, let me just tell you that I am a natural ; )
The cookies came out fantastic! My fiance and I ate the whole batch in 2days. Then I made like 4 batches and brought some to work, friends & family. EVERYONE IS OBSESSED WITH THESE COOKIES NOW! So I have become an insane baker over the past 2months! I have taught my mother how to make them, so now this is just snowballing all over Morris County, NJ!!
So my thoughts…. when I open up my own bakery one day, I’d love for you to come by and try my version of your Alfajores!
Thanks for the recipe and thanks for helping me discover my love for baking!

Hi Matt! I’ve followed your blog for a while but somehow this post escaped me. I made alfajores as wedding favors just four weeks ago! My new husband is from Uruguay and we wanted to thank our friends with something from his culture. I didn’t have an authentic recipe for the cookies, so I used one of Dorie’s, but I’ll have to try yours next time. Here’s my post:

Alfajores are one of the best aspects of living in Argentina, I miss them terribly! Dulce de leche is such a fun ingredient, its a shame that people don’t use it more in the States. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
